Donor Engagement Manager
Location: San Francisco, California

The Opportunity
The American Civil Liberties Union of Northern California (ACLU-NC) seeks a skilled Donor Engagement Manager to join our Development Department. The full-time position is based in our San Francisco office and reports to the Director of Foundation Relations & Donor Engagement.

The Approach
You understand that relationships are at the heart of successful fundraising. You know the value of clear, consistent, and kind communication with colleagues and donors, and you prioritize this in your daily work. You are systematic, organized, and flexible. You are excited to manage and evaluate an evolving engagement program, with events as the centerpiece, and to collaborate with people to achieve results. You are curious about the issues the ACLU addresses, and you find satisfaction in writing about them and learning as you do so. You thrive in a job with a variety of responsibilities. You treat every person with whom you work with dignity and respect, and you actively work to foster an equitable and inclusive experience for donors, staff, and other partners in your work.

The Position
Your primary responsibility is to plan and execute a year-round donor engagement program including communications and a variety of stewardship events for groups ranging from 20 to 700 guests. As a member of the Foundation Relations & Donor Engagement team, you also contribute to the writing of proposals and reports for foundations and major donors. You coordinate learning sessions for the development department that feature ACLU legal and policy experts. You support organizational evaluation by coordinating a periodic summary of progress toward annual goals. You help the ACLU of Northern California demonstrate the impact of its civil rights and civil liberties programs and build long-term relationships with donors and funders.

About the Organization
The ACLU-NC is an affiliate of a nationwide, non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to the defense and expansion of civil liberties and civil rights. For most of the last century, it has been at the heart of many of the most major – and sometimes controversial – struggles for civil liberties and civil rights in our state. Our mission is to ensure that constitutional rights don’t just exist on paper, but are protected in practice. As we move into a new era and face dangerous policies that threaten our civil rights and civil liberties, we remain dedicated to confronting these issues and defending the progress we have made. We must use our decades of experience in impact litigation, legislative advocacy, and fearless organizing to fight these un-American policies and protect our most cherished rights and freedoms. The Donor Engagement Manager is a critical member of a sophisticated and dynamic Development program. Join us.
